Tub Thumper Pro - Now Available
We're delighted to announce Tub Thumper Pro is now available on Android Market. It contains a fully functional beat mapping sequencer and over ten different drum kits (from Hard Rock, Hip-Hop to Electro) - go check it out!
CASE STUDY - Tub Thumper
Tub Thumper is a simple drum machine for Google Android that allows you to drum along to your favourite songs. It can also be used as a musical instrument on its own or for a spontaneous jam between friends!
It is currently available as an Android (Google Phone) application. You can download it simply by using your Android / Google phone (e.g. T-Mobile G1). To download, simply visit the Android market section on your phone or visit http://www.android-community.org/.
Tub Thumper has become an overnight success with over 300,000 downloads and listed in the top 10 most popular applications. Tub Thumper FAQ
Q: Is there a way to play more than one drum at a time (Multi touch)?
A: Android does not allow this feature to be used currently (I think it may be an Apple patent or something). As soon as they release this feature, the drum application will be fully multi touch.
Q: Can you make Tub Thumper select different kits or even upload your own drum sounds?
A: We are looking to develop more kits in the next release.
Q: Can you save your beats with a record function?
A: This function plus much more is available in the Tub Thumper Pro version - available on the Android market.
Q: Can you make the application more responsive?
A: We are currently limited to the latency of the Android media player - when this improves, so will the app. We are working hard to improve this in the meantime.
Q: How do you make it louder?
A: There are two volume controls – main volume and media player volume. You need to keep hitting a drum and raise the volume at the same time (this will trigger the media player volume). Again, this is something we are looking to improve in the next release.
Q: I can't hear a sound when I tap on the screen, why is this?
A: That is strange – Have you tried the volume and mute is off? If that fails you may have to restart your phone. It is also worth uninstalling the application and re-installing it.
